Bilateral Relations

“Right after this call, I’m speaking to a gentleman named Vladimir Putin,” – Trump and Putin Talked on Phone

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, two leaders expressed concern over the global spread of coronavirus, the Kremlin’s press service said.

The heads of state also informed each other about measures taken to counter the threat.

In addition, Putin and Trump exchanged views on the situation of the global oil market and agreed on bilateral consultations at the level of energy ministers.

The presidents agreed to continue personal contacts, concluded in the Kremlin.

Earlier, Trump said on Fox News that he was going to discuss with Putin oil prices, trade and the fight against coronavirus. He noted that “getting along with Russia is good.”

According to him, low oil prices were the result of a “war” between Moscow and Riyadh.

“The telephone conversation between the Presidents of the Russian Federation and the USA was a surprise, while the main topic nevertheless was probably the situation around oil prices, not the coronavirus, since the United States and the Russian Federation are unlikely to be able to establish concrete cooperation on the topic of the pandemic”, Director for Research at the Valdai Discussion Club Fedor Lukyanov said RIA News.
