Al-Sarraj reviews solutions to Libya’s conflict with Conte and Williams in Italy

Libya Observer – The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Sarraj discussed Saturday with the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte solutions to the Libyan crisis and the return of Italian firms to work in Libya.

The discussions came in a meeting in Rome as Al-Sarraj arrived in Italy Saturday morning, his media office said, adding that the two officials renewed the fact that there’s no military solution in Libya and that all parties should engage in a political process that achieves stability as per Security Council resolutions and Berlin conference conclusions.

The Libyan and Italian Prime Ministers agreed to form a committee to follow up on the return of Italian firms to Libya to resume work in Libya, in addition to Rome’s assistance in removing mines.

Al-Sarraj also met with the UN acting envoy to Libya Stephenie Williams and discussed the latest developments in Libya and the efforts of the UN to resume the political process as per the Berlin conference conclusions and Security Council resolution (2510) to reach a comprehensive settlement and maintain sovereignty and unity of Libya.

Al-Sarraj and Williams discussed as well the need to end the oil blockade and the resumption of oil production under the sole oversight and authority of the National Oil Corporation, besides discussions of the mass graves unearthed in Tarhouna and the mines planted by Haftar’s forces in southern Tripoli civilian neighborhoods.

The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council welcomed the decision of the UN Human Rights Council to send a fact-finding mission to ensure no criminal gets away with their atrocious crimes.
