A Fatal Shooting, Riots, Looting And Fires As Violence Erupts In Minneapolis

By Jennifer Lewerenz /KNSI Radio/ – One person is dead, and another is in custody after a shooting in the middle of looting and riots in Minneapolis Wednesday.

Police were initially called to a stabbing near Lake Street and Bloomington Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. When they arrived; they found a man lying on the sidewalk. Officers can be seen in bystander video doing chest compressions on the victim, who was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where they died.

Investigators say the man had been shot and the suspect has been arrested, but they did not say what led up to the shooting.

Protesters, angry over the death of George Floyd while in police custody, smashed windows of several businesses and set many of them ablaze as tensions boiled over.

Looters can be seen ransacking a liquor store, a Cub foods, and a Target. A Wendy’s restaurant, Metro PCS phone store, a bar, an AutoZone store, a Cub Foods store, and an apartment building that was under construction were torched in the riots.
